V8 ENGINES

Balancing
Andrews Precision has over forty years experience with balancing V8 engines. Invaluable experience was amassed during the 1970’s when Andrews’ director Trevor Wilkinson pioneered balancing techniques which were universally used by virtually every Formula 5000 team who raced in the category on three continents.

The reputation gained resulted in being inundated with V8 engines from all catagories including Can-Am and Formula 1.

Balancing V8 engines involves the addition of ‘bob’ weights applied to each of the big end bearings and are a percentage of the rod/piston weights attached to the crankshaft. It is the preparation of these weights that determine the quality of the finished job, given that the balancing equipment’s calibration is maintained.
